The Problem

Our community does not even have a curbside recycling program so it's no small wonder that our school throws out virtually all of its recyclables out with the regular trash. Although we have a redemption center, people are too lazy to separate their recyclables from regular trash and many bottles/cans are burnt along with normal trash.

Plan of Action

To try to raise awareness and perhaps eventually spread the recycling program to the rest of our community, we will be setting up some bins to collect recyclables in our high school's hallways and collect cans/bottles from our neighbors.

Project Updates

We've obtained 3 more recycling bins courtesy of our local Coke packaging company! Our bins have a steady rate each week so we're never low on bottles and cans to recycle. We'll probably get a couple more bins in the near future and cover the entire school. Everything is normal and people are getting used to sorting each week. :]

Check out our website at (tiny.cc/ahsdsc)! We are planning to get 2 more bins for this project.
