The School Safety Research Group (SSRG) is a new non-profit organization devoted to the advancement and dissemination of school safety research and information. The SSRG was created and is chaired by Matt Buckman, 25 years old. The organization has just launched their website (www.aboutschoolsafety.com). Overtime this website will become a source for free resources for those interested in advancing the area of school safety through research. In addition, the organization will provide “SSRG SmallGrants” to individuals and organizations proposing innovative research projects that advance the understanding of school safety in K-12 school settings. The organization is constructing vigorous grassroots marketing to support the use of the website and the use of the SSRG funding mechanisms. The current funding mechanisms developed to support the functioning of the School Safety Research Group are a personal donations area of the website and the School Safety Research Group Search Engine. The School Safety Research Group Search Engine has been granted by Prodege to share the advertising revenue the search engine receives. Revenue is produced every time a search is made through the SSRG search engine (www.schoolsafety.prodege.com) and is granted to the School Safety Research Group. Currently, the School Safety Research Group is expanding community knowledge of the search engine. This expansion will be through paper and electronic announcements soliciting support by the use of the School Safety Research Group Search Engine.
