Increase Your Green! Competition at Kent Place School Decorates Recycling Bins!

the problem:

Many of the people in our community at Kent Place School recycle. But to grab those last few that don't, we wanted to make recycling a more exciting part of the daily grind.

why it's important:

During one of our regularly scheduled Environmental Club meetings, the members got together and created decorations for the recycling bins. Some of us worked on turning a Paper bin into a shark! And other worked on turning a Cans and Bottles bin into a person! We thought that these newly adorned bins would catch students' and faculty members' eyes and remind them to recycle!

the plan of action:

First we gathered craft supplies from our homes and the art classroom at school, as well as gathering cardboard boxes and paper to reuse as a part of our decorations. Then during our meeting, the members got together to create our masterpieces! Since we put the decorations on the recycling bins, the club has received many compliments on how "fun" and "cool" our bins are, as well as some reports of more recycling!

how you can get involved:

Decorate the recycling bins in your community! Make it a fun activity!
