We promote cultural awareness and education by organizing events in the community such as potlucks, picnics and soccer tourneys themed with different cultures. Also we collaborated with certain local schools and teachers and were able to gather enough material (curriculum, lessons) to offer language classes to kids of the community. This was a 3 weeks program. With what they have learned, the kids can take a test in their school and the school system can decide whether the kids can advance to a higher level. During these weeks, our staff hosted 2 cultural weeks. In the first week, the Ethiopian culture was celebrated with an array of events, where the kids learned to cook ethiopian food, to dance ethiopian dances and ate an ethiopian dinner. Likewise in the second week, the west african culture was celebrated. This was done with no funding of any kind, so imagine what funding could bring to this organization.
