The Problem

Ralph Waldo Emerson wrote: “To leave the world a bit better, whether by a healthy child, a garden patch, or a redeemed social condition; To know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived; This is to have succeeded." This is my policy of responsibility. A very real ambition of mine is to help others find contentment. To this end I have explored, discovered, and created a myriad of methods. Bottom line: Improve the quality of life of everyone around me but specifically those in medical need.

Plan of Action

I intended IFAH to be a broadening experience for everyone involved, especially the students serving others. That is why I have extended our influence to a global level. The culmination of this year’s efforts was a medical/artistic ‘mission’ trip to a small country in West Africa called The Gambia. Seven students and 2 nurses traveled to The Gambia in West Africa for 2 weeks to work in and help multiple hospitals, schools, and rural clinics. IFAH raised over $7,000 for medical and art supplies that were delivered to hospitals, schools, and clinics in The Gambia, along with over 300lbs of donated medical equipment. IFAH was an incredible success in all of the communities it touched (and the hearts of the students involved) and will continue to thrive on all of the building that has occurred. I cannot begin to explain how proud and pleased I am of this organization, its members, and its accomplishments.
