The Problem

Children of Northern Uganda are being taken from their homes and forced to be a part of the Lord's Resistence Army(LRA)'s sectarian guerrilla army.

Why It's Important

This project is important to me because, these children that are forced to walk miles to a government gaurded building for a safe place to sleep at night. (The LRA strikes at night to take children from their homes.)Becasue these children walk everywhere, they are thought to just be regualr children that still live with their families. We want to send these children back to school.

The Plan Of Action

1. Walk the Walk- 50 students/parents who raise 50 dollars will get to particepate in a walk around the South Kitsap High School track on Nov. 23 at 7. We want to start off with the walking that the children of Uganda do in order to stay safe from the LRA and not become a child soldier.

Project Updates

Update: Monday, November 16, we realized that we had 12 badges left to sell for our 50 for 50 walk. We walk next week on Monday November 23. Also, we planned out a movie day to watch the Movie "Invisible Children" in our high school theater. Also we saw the t-shirt designs for the 50 for 50 walk that the participents will recieve. On a side note, we started a local project in our community for the South Kitsap Helpline, we are bringing in food donations of non-parashiable food items for SK Helpline, they have reached the point where they barely have anything to give to those who need it. Below is a request form that our adviser gave us to give to family and friends.
