the problem:

Northern Uganda is in a 20 year long war, and they're forcing children to fight battles that are not theirs. We are raising money to better their living conditions, and doing our best to get bills passed to help stop the war and give the children their childhoods back.

why it's important:

In America, I am very fortunate. It is hard going to sleep at night knowing that while I'm in my nice warm bed, in my spacious home with my loving mother, there is a child across the ocean, the same age as me, who is sleeping somewhere deep in the forests of Sierra Leone, Africa, running from the LRA, and is orphaned because his family wasn't as fast as him when running away from an LRA attack.
That honestly breaks my heart. I can't put it into words. It sickens me that people just like you and I have to live such different and horrific lives, just because they live in a different part of the world. If one person is lucky enough to have a certain standard of living, the rest of the world should be that fortunate. I want to help better the lives of the less fortunate.

the plan of action:

Currently I have started a club at my school, and we are fundraising, selling cookie dough, selling bracelets, having benefit concerts, etc. and sending all of our money to our sister school in Uganda, Africa.
In addition to that, we are doing a walk-a-thon, with an organization called Invisible Children, where we walk to Las Vegas' Senator's office and request that he vote for two bills that will help end the 20+ war in Africa.

how you can get involved:

By going to Invisiblechildren.com, you can make direct donations, you can start a club at any school or university and fundraise just like I am doing, you can buy any Invisible Children merchandise because all proceeds go to the cause, You can participate in walk-a-thons, you can even tell a friend. All types of promotion and awareness help.
