The book club members started the project by telling their friends and family about the idea. We then purchased bins to set up in various areas to collect the jeans. Everyone asked fellow students, co-workers, friends, family and others to ask others to donate their new or gently used jeans. The impact has been wonderful. The book club has collected almost 600 pair of jeans in 2 years. We have been able to share jeans with many, many young people that needed them and this past Christmas, we were able to donate over 150 pair of jeans to a local boys and girls club. It has also brought members of the book club closer together as we celebrate the success of this project. One of the highlights of this project was PEN Pals Book Club and Support Group being recognized as one of the top supporters of the "Jeans for Jasmine" project at the second year celebration. We look forward to meeting our goal of 1,000 pair of jeans in the next year or so.
