My name is Anthony Todd and I am requesting a plum grant for New Wave Community Organization. New Wave is a community-based non-profit organization that caters to the youth in the city of Detroit. It is extremely hard for this organization to receive funding because we are in the process of receiving tax-exempt status from the I.R.S. We have a basketball league that we have on Saturday’s, in which approximately 150 children between the ages of 10-18 play in a basketball league. These are children that obligate themselves to be apart of something positive every week, and these children deserve good things such as jersey’s and equipment. We have had one small fund-raiser since our short existence (January 3, 2008), we sold candy and made a profit of about $350. The next fund-raiser that we have planned will be a basketball tournament at Pershing High School on April 26th and 27th. The problem is our three teams need jerseys. I would really appreciate if dosomething.org could assist us with a plum grant. This organization was designed to let kids know they have the option to be successful no matter where they come, please assist me in this mission. Thank you, Anthony B. Todd President/Founder
