The Problem

Drop out rate, discrimination, and struggle with teen parents. And single mothers struggle and heartache.

Plan of Action

Our project would target ages 13- 24. There is a program at Marion County Community Adult and Technical Education Center. Providing them with supplies such as household items, childcare, clothing, transportation, finding transportation for parents in college who have none, etc. things they can get off welfare support but help them save the money they have. Childcare will be provided in the office/ school, for Infants(0-1) to 3 years. I would like to open a daycare as well for the childcare in the location of our office facility. As you can see by the info I have on the building I would like to get there is room just a few modifications. The childcare will be free if I can get enough help. Transportation will only be provided for those who have no way to get there child to and from the school. Finding transportation will be a little harder because I would like to find cash cars that we can provide the parents with so they can get to and from work and school. Just little something I would like to get from local auctions. Something that can get them from point A to B. I would like to also provide them with household items, clothing, and other useful items such as cleaning supplies, bottles, diapers, school supplies, and etc. Tutoring to those who need the help. This is for those teen parents who need just a little bit of help in some subjects. Housing assistance will be based on what the housing situation is. As in if you were forced to leave your home and you are between the ages of 13- 18 we will TRY and make it free or just find you some where to stay. If you just need a place to stay you will try receive assistance on your rent. Or we can place you in a home with other girls who have children going through the program. Tuition assistance to those who need it for programs like CNA, Phlebotomy, Childcare, and etc. In order for them to keep these benefits they have to be enrolled in school. If not enrolled in school you must get enrolled in a high school diploma course. And must maintain a 2.0 gpa. Progress reports will be turned and no penalty for that except tutoring. Report cards must be better. They must attend a meeting the first Monday of every month to insure their spot as a client. There will be a computer lab on site for those students who need it. They will be aloud to stay on the program for a year after they graduate, with the proof that they have been looking for a job or applying for school. We will work the best we can with local sources to receive most of the resources. Every great business need to keep up with what’s going. We will work with the local colleges and adult education program to keep track with how many single parents and teen parents there are in our area, so that we can continue our service. How many of them need the free childcare, how many are failing, how many are thinking about dropping out, how many have dropped out. We want to make sure that we have not started a program that can not be used. Not only will we do that but every client will have their own record folder so that we can keep up with what they attend and participate in.
