The Problem

Inner city youth have few, if any, opportunities to travel abroad. Often times, youth in the City of Hartford, CT do not know and understand the world beyond the confines of their neighborhood. In order for our children to succeed in the 21st century, they must have academic preparation and increased global awareness.

Plan of Action

To address this, we have planned an international trip to Spain, England and France for fifteen students from the City of Hartford. During the time leading up to the trip, students will participate in a variety of service learning activities in which they will make positive contributions to their community. Upon returning from Europe, students will discuss their experiences through informative symposiums in their schools and community. We believe that this will be invaluable training for them to become well-informed leaders with increased knowledge of the world in which they live.
