JSA for PovSolve

The Problem

Millions of people live in poverty. PovSolve believes that any action can help and we are determined to get our community involved to help those suffering from poverty. There are innocent indiviudals dying each and every day due to preventable causes. We MUST take action! As of January 2013, PovSolve has raised over $40,000, impacted over 5,000 lives, and inspired over 500 people to aid the cause. Although the issue of poverty is with us, it seems far-fetched to many high schoolers living in developed nations and comforting homes, but we must not forgive those who are less fortunate than us. PovSolve has already started this mission in Zambia, Africa, targeting schools and education. However, they face an ongoing problem of inadequate supplies and funds. This inhibits them from making even further change. The Junior Statesmen of America’s 2013 – 2014 state activism theme is centered on human rights and suffering. Together, we can make it our goal to aid education and poverty by contributing toward this cause. We can help build more accessible education to the children in Zambia, who represent the millions of other individuals in this world fighting for a better future.

Plan of Action

Using $25,000 that PovSolve has raised, a school is being built in Zambia, Africa that will provide children with education, healthcare, and a future. Through community awareness and fundraising, we hope to encourage people to give support toward this cause by donating any amount to the children in Zambia. Plano Senior High School’s chapter of the Junior Statesmen of America aspires to make a difference by creating this chapter activism project with National Honor Society to raise money and awareness for human suffering. Our goal is to meet $2,000 for the new school built in Zambia, Africa. One main campaign is through online donation, but we also set up fundraisers at restaurants, door-to-door, and more. The school is expected to be finished in January 2014. Every cent counts!
