The Problem
The Kaagabbott Rabbit project is trying to teach financial literacy to at-risk youth. At the same time, we are also trying to help them start up a jewelry business where the profits will go to Meru, Kenya. The money will be donated to the Church for the Center of Global Aids, who will then make sure that rabbit farmers get the money. The money will purchase rabbits for breeding, growing, and food. We are hoping the project will not only help the girls learn about finances, but also about their global impact.
Plan of Action
To create our project, it took a lot of communication with the Abbott House and donations from our Students In Free Enterprise team. My team created powerpoints, videos, and fun worksheets to try to involve the girls in the project. Then we have to contact Florence, from Kenya, so she can get us in contact with the right people over there. The girls will be writing letters describing how the project has affected them and how they hope their efforts paid off. We hope to get a picture from the Kenyan rabbit farmers to show the girls that their work was not in vain.
