Kids Against Hunger

Kids Against Hunger is an organization dedicated to eliminating world hunger. I had helped organize a food packing event for Kids Against Hunger in 2010 and we were able to pack around 20,000 meals to be sent to third world countries. We did the project through our club, Key Club International. Key Club is a club at our school and the largest volunteer organization in the world for high school students. Now that I am District Governor for Key Club International, I have made Kids Against Hunger my District Project. I have asked my Key Clubs in my district (North Dakota, Minnesota, and South Dakota) to raise money for this project but I fear a lack in funds. I want the project to be a success. Each meal costs $.23 and there are 6 meals in a packaged bag. The meal is a highly nutritious soy casserole. I am a strong believer in that there should be no person in the world dying of hunger. We have the resources, the money, and time to eliminate world hunger if people were willing to do something about it. Imagine if everyone participated in Kids Against Hunger... If everyone put in some of their time to package food to be sent off to the needy... If a few high school students were able to package about 20,000 meals last year, imagine how many people would be helped if this was a national focus. It is an amazing feeling to know that our project helped feed 20,000 people and I hope to achieve this goal again. 20,000 children die everyday due to hunger related causes... and it is amazing to think that those 20,000 meals may have prevented a day's worth of needless, hunger related deaths.
