The Problem
The problem I am trying solve is the lack of involvement of children in actively participating in their communities. In Isla Vista, Santa Barbara there are many ways kids can help the community, for we have many homeless people, parks, beaches, children, and elders in need for attention. Kids for Peace wants to promote tolerance, kindness, and understanding of every living thing; people and nature.
Plan of Action
I plan to have a monthly or twice a month meeting with children who live in the community of Isla Vista in Santa Barbara. This meetings will take place at a park or at the elementary school in Isla Vista, and will have about 20 to 25 kids in them. In this meetings we will discuss peace, kindness to other living things, the importance of nature and ways to protect it, tolerance and understanding of different cultures, and appreciating everyone that serves us through kind acts and arts and crafts. We will set up beach clean ups, help the homeless, try fixing the parks, visiting hospitals, orphanages, elder homes, etc... In addition we will send children in different countries and of whom we learn about, peace packs filled with toilet trees, school supplies, a toy, and a personal note of friendship. The first peace pack will be sent to an orphanage in Peru, who will have the opportunity to make peace packs back to the children in America.
