The Problem
In our community, and all around the world, these is an epidemic of unwanted animals. Whether they are strays or are no longer wanted by their owners, they need a place to go. We take in stray or unwanted animals and find them homes. Our community also lacks a low cost spay and neuter program, and we provide that as well. We educate the public about the pet overpopulation problem and why it is important to spay/neuter and be responsible about owning a pet. We work with people when they have problems with their animals and try to help those who want to get rid of their pets because they cannot afford them.
Plan of Action
In increasing my volunteer hours and responsibilities I hoped to make it so this organization can help more kitties and find more homes for them! In fostering kitties, I allowed more than 60 kitties over the course of a year a place to stay where they would have otherwise been turned away due to lack of space. I took over the volunteer scheduling for our adoption events to allow them to run smoother and increase the chances of our kitties to be seen and adopted. Learning how to do vet care on the cats allowed another resource for fosters to get their kitties healthy and ready to find homes.
