The Problem

I want to provide an effective way of teaching and make the neighborhood beautiful. This can be done with an Outdoor classroom. The Outdoor classroom will allow the students to interact with the environment by participating. The town of Catawba is located in Western North Carolina. It is considered a rural community with 909 people. There is a lot of vacant land that is trashed. There are no alternate methods of teaching, and I feel this project will enhance the beauty and knowledge of the environment. I would like to include the community, as it will intensify learning for students and the teachers.

Plan of Action

We have located an acre of land. Listed below are the steps that will ensure success of the Outdoor Classroom. 1.Research what flowers and trees will attract birds and butterflies. 2.The land will need to cleared of the trash and weeds. 3.Create a layout of the flowers, trees and pathways 4.Start planting purchased and donated items 5.Construct birdhouses, bat houses, and butterfly houses 6.Make the weatherproof cards to describe the flowers, trees, birds and butterflies. We have raised $118 for supplies, if we were to win the $500 we could purchase more supplies.
