The Problem

Lamont Kid’s Center and Community Garden is an after school program benifiting our entire community. The Lamont Kid's Center was intiated because there is a limited amount of healthy activities for youth in our community, due to our rural location and population, 503. Our center is completely ran by volunteers. We host an average of 22 youth a night, with a base of about 75 youth. Our youth range from 3-18+. In the summer we impact a larger group of our community with our garden. Our produce is available to everyone for free or a free will donation, it is delivered to elderly and homebound and donated to area agencies feeding low-income. Our Garden is tended by our youth and members of the community. Mission Statement The Lamont Kid’s Center strives through our mentoring, activities and programming to instill the core values of good character; trustworthiness, respect, responsibility, fairness, caring and citizenship in our area youth, providing a solid foundation for our children to develop spiritually, psychically, socially and mentally into healthy, caring adults.
