The Problem

Imagine a community in West Louisville, Kentucky that is thriving, a safe place where children are healthy and playing, laughter in the air, seniors walking, people riding bicycles, neighbors meeting and greeting each other, the green spaces vibrant, flowers blooming, dogs barking, and fresh produce in abundance with people buying at the marketplace. This is the vision that LAMP Life Centered Ministries, a nonprofit organization, has for the Russell Community, a community that is not only home to so many good, hardworking people and their families, but unfortunately also a neighborhood filled with abandoned houses, too many liquor stores, and a culture of drugs and crime. We want to create a community garden for this neighborhood in the hope to alleviate some of these unfortunate urban problems. Louisville Grows is working in collaboration with LAMP to facilitate this project.

Plan of Action

The LAMP's garden project is in the initial phases of this project. Thus far we have created a design for the project and have support from local community members and organizations interested in facilitating the project. We also have lots for the garden ready. We are looking for funding now and we are excited to move along with this project.
