According to Ronald Meinardus of Friedrich Naumann Foundation for liberty, the Philippine public education confronts a crisis of underfunded public schools that eventually leads to the negligence of a child’s academic pursuit. He identifies that the quality of education corresponds to a student’s career opportunities. Therefore, amongst the sharp social divide within the different regions throughout the Philippines, certain schools are bound to feel the consequences of this underfunded allocation. In Sta. Teresa Elementary School, there is at least 2000 students who cannot read more than a single word and this problem is aggravated with the lack of materials and facilities to allow learning to take place. Therefore, we aim to ameliorate this inequality by providing the necessary materials needed to build a library that is conducive to community learning, knowledge acquisition and research.
