The Problem

Ensure the students who are unable to afford a backpack have one. And to expand that to include school supplies next year! It is important to pay-it-forward and give back to those who are not as fortunate. "Freely you have received, freely give."

Plan of Action

We raised 142 backpacks that benefited Aiton Elementary School in the Deanwood district of Washington, DC; Denbigh High School in Clarendon, Jamaica West Indies; and the Ecole Bon Samaritan Orphanage in Archaie, Haiti that houses 19 students and provides school for 100 area students. The orphanage will also receive clothing and personal care supplies. This year, we secured the participation of not only Howard University, but also Broward College and Florida International University. Our corporate partners were FedEx, Home Depot, Grace Kennedy International Ltd., and Dennis Shipping Company.
