The Problem

I am trying to solve gender inequalities whitin traditional settings. In my community, new born girls are considered a waste because there aren't great expectations or emphasis in seeing them evolve and succeed like men would. Therefore, access to education is difficult for most girls, leaving them vulnerable for difficult marriages and challenging lives.I am providing education to young girls in my community in the Congo and inspiring them to discover all that they were made to become.I pushing them to dream without limit and show the world that girls can be great.

Plan of Action

While i was in Chicago for my undergraduate studies,i funded a 501 c 3 non profit called Littlethings. It gre out of making tiny jewerly and necklaces from beads, selling them to friends and people around.Knowledge gained from my business classes enabled me to legalize this organization both in the States and in the Congo and to cover for all start up cost.In less than a couple of years, we are providing education to 22 girls from poor communities, supporting and mentoring them; giving micro-credit loans to marginalized women'S self help groups, enabling entrepreneurial partnerships for individuals in the west to purchase bags and products made made by women here as a way of generating income and encouraging personal growth. This personal initiative has been operating solely without outside support and we are seeking potential grants to help us grow to the next level. Our plan is to increase the number of girls sponsporship, open an after school center as a safe place where they would learn to develop and grow.
