The Problem

Living Hope Ministries (LHM) is a non-profit organization located in the heart of North East Minneapolis whose sole purpose is to reach at-risk inner city children with the message of Jesus Christ both in word and deed. Living Hope Ministries exists to glorify God by providing physical, emotional, and spiritual support to the individual caught in the cycles of poverty. There is great poverty in NE Minneapolis. Poverty is more than just financial. Poverty can also be spiritual, emotional, relational, etc. Living Hope Ministries has been reaching children, youth, and families in Northeast Minneapolis since 1993. Our target area is the Miracle Mile, an area in the heart of NE Mpls where 20,000 people reside, 5,000 of which are under age 19. Many of these children come from broken homes, poverty, abuse, and neglect. They are in need of the hope of Christ. They are precious and fragile and they must be handled with the care and love of God.

Plan of Action

I am currently on Living Hope's summer staff team. Currently I am starting a Bible study for 4th - 6th grade guys. Through this study I hope to be able to invest in the lives of 6 young boys that they may grow to be godly men who will courageously lead their families. Living Hope has many goals for the future which are as follows: FUTURE GOALS: Timeline: Implementation varies from 2010 – 2012 1. After School Academy - The After School Academy provides opportunity for development of skill and passion in children of NE Minneapolis in the fields of Art, Music, Puppet and Drama. 2. After School Programs - Living Hope Ministries is built around the development of healthy godly relationships that will provide an atmosphere in which our participants will have a strong sense of belonging. Offerings will include a variety of sports, games and activities, arts and crafts, a computer lab, library club, cooking skills and nutrition. Timeline: Implementation in 2012 – 2014 3. Church Plant - Living Hope Community Church (LHCC) - Providing a community in which families worship together will enhance and strengthen the families of NE Minneapolis. The church will foster healthy families exhibiting godly values and principles. LHCC will be lead by those people who have demonstrated a zeal for God and His word evidenced by a life of obedience to Holy God. 4. Living Hope Day Care/Preschool - A Day Care / Preschool that will becme an extended family, maintaining a clear adherence to the teachings of God’s truth in valuing life, and those whom He entrusts to our care. Timeline: Implementation in 2015 - 2017 5. Living Hope Christian School - A Christian School for inner city youth. Initially, a pre-K-6 developed out of the daycare/preschool model. 6. Life Station Youth Center - Life Station is a Community resource where teenagers can connect and grow spiritually and in community.
