During my freshman year in high school I had an English teacher that inspired be to do something good for my community. At the time I had really long hair and I needed a hair cut. However, instead of just a trim I wanted to cut a large amount of my hair. I decided I wanted to donate my hair to the Locks of Love foundation, however, I did not know how to go about doing so. After talking to my English teacher I suggested that a Locks of Love hair drive be started at my high school. After my suggestion my teacher put her foot down and really pushed to get the drive going. After putting our two heads together, we managed to get the drive started. We asked a salon to come to Cousino during the school day and give girls and guys hairs cuts and donate the hair that was cut off. The drive was a huge success and we had a ton of girls donating their hair. It was such a success that the drive has gone on every year at Cousino since!
