See It
I am a 17 year old girl living in a town with almost nothing to offer for kids my age. Several kids here are on drugs just because they think there is nothing better to do. I have barrel raced for 3 or 4 years. When I first started out barrel racing I noticed my cousin and I were basically the only girls around here that raced. Over the years more and more kids were starting to compete. I have noticed how many kids have stared at me in awe and told me how much they would love to be just like me. I won the barrel racing high-point trophy for two years in a row. My horse recently passed away this summer and sadly I have stopped barrel racing until I get out of college. I think since the kids seen what can be achieved in our little town that maybe they will not choose drugs.

Hi,
I applaud you for standing strong and loving your horse! I too was from a small town and my horses were everything to me and still are even in this big city I live in now. HOLD on to your dreams as you did with your reins, don't give up and you will have horses again soon. Keep cheering on all those around you and continue to be their role model! Doing the right thing is always so much harder but you will never regret it and you will always be proud to look at yourself in the mirror ;).
Take care,
Darlene Harman
