The Problem
I didn't start this group Zach Hunter from Atlanta did.
I meet him at a youth confernce in Germany.
The group Loose Chains to Loosen Chains (LC2LC) is trying to put an end to modern day slavery.
There are 27 MILLION slaves in the world today. There are in even slaves in Canada and in the US!
Why It's Important
Zach started a group at his school called Loose Change to Loosen Chains. (LC2LC).
LC2LC raises money to help free slaves form all over the world. The way they do that is by sending the money into International Justice Missions (IJM). With that money IJM goes to country’s like Cambodia, Laos Vietnam and other places in South-East Asia and goes to Brothels and other slave like places and investigates. If it was a brothel they would pose as people who were going to buy a little girl or a teenager but, they get it all on tape.
After it is on tape they go to the police or other authorities and show them the footage. They then plan how to raid the Brothel and help free the slaves that work there.
The reason why IJM doesn’t buy them out of slavery is because it is just supporting the slave trade.
Also you can buy t-shirts and cups for fundraising that has the logo 'LC2LC' on it.
The Plan Of Action
First i wrote a letter and sent it my school Guidance Counsellor. And we had a couple meetings and edited the letter and later sent it to the princaple and vice princaple.
How Can Others Get Involved?
They can start a Loose Change to Loosen Chains at their school or church.
