The Problem

Would like to offer scholarship to students who cannot otherwise afford to attend the Louisiana Youth Seminar (LYS). LYS is made up of diverse students from throughout the state of Louisiana. The program is held every year for the past 40 years during the thrid week of July. The cost is $395 per student, with the actual cost of each student being $500. (We must fundraise the to cover the additional $105 for each student.) 50% of the students that attend LYS are on full or partial scholarship. I am applying for this grant so that we can provide an additional scholarship to a student who could not otherwise attend LYS.

Plan of Action

With this grant I would target areas of the state that are under represented at LYS and target deserving students to attend by offering a full or 2 partial scholarships. These scholarships would allow the students to attend LYS where they may have not otherwise had the opportunity.
