The Problem

Our youth group is attempting to break down some racial and religious barriers in our community. We want to be a positive example in our community and share our faith through random acts of kindness.

Plan of Action

we plan to have stations set up in front of our place of worship on Sunday mornings. Youths will be volunteering by giving out free coffee, water, juices, sanwiches , care packages, gloves, blankets etc to people. We will have a variety of 'random acts of kindeness' throughout the year. We will give out homemade food items to all our local businesses and ask them to donate non perishables items to the homeless. We will use this forum to bring an awareness to many of the issues that this very organization believes in. Our goal is to try to solve not just one issue but as many as we can handle.

Project Updates

On Dec 11, 2010 we went on the hunt to give out Care packages to The NYC Homeless people. We gave out 20 bags filled with blankets, hats, gloves, scarves, thermal underwear and ziploc bags with soap, toothbrush, tothpaste and deodarants.
We drove around the streets of Manhattan and gave out to some people we say on the streets then we headed to Penn Station and Port Authority Bus Terminal and gave out the rest of the bags. It was a moving experience for some of the youths since most of them had never spoken to a homeless person before. It felt really great to help someone and we cant wait for Christmas Day to repeat this Love in Action Project.
