The Problem

Magis Service Organization's mission is to raise $2000 in order to provide transportation for children from SAGE Childcare Center to go on four field trips this summer. SAGE is an after-school program for young children living in the Watts neighborhood of Los Angeles. As of right now Magis has raised $1500 toward this effort. SAGE needs four buses in order to send its children on these field trips and the $2000 would cover the costs. Sage's annual deficit is well over $100,000 so it is important to help in any way possible.

Plan of Action

Magis Service Organization's plan of action was to fundraise for Sage for 48-hours straight. So from Tuesday April 6, 2010 until Thursday April 8, 2010 we had our Magis members present at a table on-campus trying to collect donations. In addition, throughout these 48-hours we guaranteed that at least one Magis member would be running or walking around a loop of our campus in order to spread awareness for our cause. Lastly, in order to incorporate a greater amount of students on our campus we invited all students to participate in the Run/Walk. At the end of the 48-hours a total of roughly 200 laps had been ran/walked around LMU’s campus. The night of April 8th we were sponsored by a resident housing building council and were able to invite students to come play Broomball at the Toyota Sports Center’s ice rink. This provided an additional opportunity for students to donate to Sage. At the end of the event, our organization had spent $0 and had raised over $1500 for Sage.
