Make A Child Smile :)
the problem:
I am trying to make children smile while being ill. This project is going to involve sending cards, letters, and gifts to kids who have an illness. If you want to find out more, please check out the link!!!!!

3why it's important:
MACS is important to me because some kids that are ill do not have something to make them smile. I want to let them know that there are people out there that want them to be happy! I want them to know that people out there love them just as much as there family and doctors do. These cards will be the source to make them smile!!!
the plan of action:
My plan of action is to get lots of people together to make cards to send to these kids. Doing this will make these kids happy! There are some do's and dont's though and here they are:
DON'Ts
Please try not to say: "Get well soon", "Get better" or anything similar, as some kids have illnesses with no known cure and sadly will not get better.
Avoid adding Bible verses or any mention of religion as our kids have different beliefs.
Do not mail candy to the kids or anything edible, as some kids have various types of allergies.
Do not add confetti and glitter inside envelopes/packages. Though that's very cute, it's a HUGE mess to clean up once a child rip-opens an envelope/package and everything goes all over the place, especially if they are on a hospital bed.
Stuffed Animals - If you are mailing a USED Stuffed Animal Toy, and it has been sitting around your house for a long time, then please wash it first, as this toy could be a lethal dust-allergen-dander threat to some kids who have severe allergies. If it cannot be washed, then please do not send it. Purchase a new one instead.
Stuffed Animals (used OR new) should NOT be mailed to kids who are in hospital isolation and/or going through intense chemotherapy due to their very delicate & low immune system.
DOs
You can say: "Wishing you well", "Praying for you", "Thinking of you"...
Send cheery mail... you're supposed to "make a child smile", remember?? You can write something funny on your card, maybe a joke or something funny that happened to you.
Write about you and your family, send pictures of your family, pets, vacations, describing where you've been and what you did... tell stories! Kids LOVE stories!!
A card can be a LOT more than just the text that's already printed on there... and your signature. BE CREATIVE!!
Also I will post the addresses of the children once I start getting volunteers, so please become a member of the project!! And post lots of comments!!!! :)
