Make It Beautiful, Inc.
the problem:
The evidence is everywhere around us, in our places of work, schools, neighborhoods and homes. There are thousands of people who have lost everything and are just trying to make ends meet. These are people like you and me, who because of some set of unforeseen events, find themselves in a place they never thought they would be and far from what they have dreamed of and worked towards. I have come to realize that what these people long for is just a second chance to rebuild their lives. They want a purpose for their lives and hope. They want to know there is a way out and how to get there.

20why it's important:
I vividly remember hiding in my room, crying, forcing myself to feel nothing--coming to terms that there was no hope for my future. I remember thinking my life was going to end in a few hours and praying for my family that would be left behind. But now it’s been a few years since that night and I am living with the freedom that I longed for and thought was completely out of reach. That terrible night was one of many nights that were tinted with the pain and fear of being married to an abusive alcoholic. Like everyone else, when I got married to my prince charming, I never thought this would happen to me but it did, and everything I had spent my life working for, dreaming of and caring about was suddenly gone. When I finally had the strength to escape, I left with $50 and started over. In a year, I was able to purchase a home, I had an established career, I had regained my self-confidence and for the first time in years I could fall asleep without fear and wake up to peace and happiness. But I can’t forget that right now, there are many people who have lost it all and are living the desperation I once felt. My passion is to provide the support, resources and opportunities to others, that I was blessed to have. I desire to empower our communities, our nation and our world to engage and truly embrace the potential and strength in themselves to overcome whatever tragic or difficult place they are in and pursue a beautiful future... out of this came Make It Beautiful.
the plan of action:
We connect people with the resources, opportunity, and support needed to not just survive their adversity , but truly thrive.
Our goals are to:
1) Spread awareness
2) Empower individuals and families to overcome adversity
3) Provide resources, education, funding and support to reach their full potential.
Participants in our programs and empowerment groups are provided with services such as job placement assistance, career advising, life skills training, counseling (for grief or trauma), health & wellness support, education development, and financial responsibility training.
We have a large network of professionals who donate their time to mentor and walk with each person who comes to Make It Beautiful. We all believe in building a strong foundation, so that each person can build a strong future for themselves and their families.
Since our opening, Make It Beautiful has spread the message of empowerment and hope for overcoming adversity to over 100,000 people. We have been featured in numerous, prominent media outlets, conducted live on-air interviews, spoken to groups of people from many different backgrounds, and personally walked with families as they started over. In 2009, we opened two locations and now serve many counties in middle Tennessee.
