The Problem

Last year Ionia Kids Club and the Ionia Co Peace Community partnered together to plan and implement a Soup Lunch, Guest Speaker, and Peace March for MLK Day. In 2011, Ionia Kids Club Members with the assistance of Adult Supporters from the Peace Community will lead the way in planning the Peace March portion of this event. New to this year, the Peace March portion of the MLK Day events will be completely geared to the needs of middle and high school students.

Plan of Action

Youth will meet at a central location in downtown Ionia where they will hear the first guest speaker. Youth will then proceed to march throughout downtown with signs promoting peace and community service. The peace march will end at a local church where we can have a meal or snack waiting for the youth. We are planning on having a guest speaker all the way from California via SKPE or other electronic means of communications.
