Maryland School for the Blind
the problem:
The community I helped out with was the Maryland School for the Blind. There I helped many kids with schoolwork, everyday life and their visual impairment. I helped them with projects, did activities with them and took the role of a teacher during class.

3why it's important:
This project is important to me because I believe that by helping visually disabled people that I will be able to have them see their advantages in the world.
the plan of action:
One of my projects was a hands on learning experience. I learned to use the senses that the kids did have rather than the ones that they didn't. We did a peanut butter sauce cooking activity where i had the kids feel around the tools and measure to help them independently make a snack. I also did this project where I collected watermelon seeds and made braille cards for the alphabet and numbers.
