The Problem

Ensure that breast cancer patients have support and feel that someone cares about them as they begin their breast cancer journey. A chemo bag is given to each breast cancer patient at 6 Portland clinics as they begin their first chemotherapy treatment.

Plan of Action

I created Matt's Chemo Bags in 2008. My parents gave me funds to begin my project and community businesses have continnued the support. I have grown from creating 5 bags per month to 30-35 each month. I receive frequent cards and letters from patients who receive my bags thanking me for caring about them. Many of the letters say that I gave them the inspiration to fight the cancer battle.
