Mehfoud Book Fair

I put together a reading fair at Mehfoud Elementary. 10 groups of 3 high school students had a topic (i.e. animals, music, and careers). Students chose 2 of 10 stations they visited. The groups gave short, interactive presentations and read a topic related book to students. The students chose one book to keep from a selection (books were donated from the book bank). To prepare, I visited students before hand and promoted the fair. I collected volunteers and assigned tasks with expectations. To maintain control, I went to stations and monitored presentations and student activity. First I got a group of students together and told them about the project. Then we participated in the Read Across America, breaking the old world record. After that I met multiple times with the group again. Then I contacted the Richmond Book Bank and requested 500 books, and told them why. Last I went to the elementary school and held the Book Fair.
