The Problem
Mentorship brings together children from underserved communities and UCLA students from all walks of life. Mentors are paired one-on-one with a child for the entire school year and are given the unique opportunity to be a source of support, influence, and inspiration in the life of a young person. Mentorship is a unique program that focuses on trust and communication to build thriving friendships that empower its participants to pursue their interests and create change. For the last six years, Mentorship Program at UCLA has found its greatest success in the compassion, wisdom, enthusiasm and dedication of its volunteer mentors. Since its inception, the Mentorship Program at UCLA has partnered with Youth Mentoring Connection and has grown to include over 200 participants and has become an integral part of the UCLA service community and the community which it serves.
