Vital Stats
See It
Meridian, Mississippi is a mid-size city with not many clubs or organizations for youth. With over 13 schools inside this county there is a great number of young people. This program needs help getting on its feet to become a great asset to the community.
Build It
I recently volunteered to be an assistant advisor for the Meridian Police Explorer program. After looking through the inventory, I found that most of the equipment we have has been used for almost 15 years and is outdated. We have 10 members that come to meetings but with over 13 schools in our county membership should be a lot higher. This program helps youth from the age of 14-20 learn about law enforcement and builds leadership skills. My future plans for this program is to have members involved in monthly community service projects and create a great opportunity for youth to get involved in something that will make a positive impact in their lives. I joined this program when i was 16 years old. I'm now an officer trying to help the youth in this area have the same opportunities I had.
