See It

Founded in the spring of 2007, the Middletown Youth Radio Project (MYRP) is the only program of its kind in Central Connecticut. Through a collaborative project with WESU FM 88.1, more than 12 youth -ages 9 to 16- have participated in the project, learning audio production and radio DJ skills, as well as other aspects of producing a collaborative weekly radio show, such as teamwork and self-reliance. To date, MYRP has produced thirteen 15-minute long shows. MYRP activities are organized and facilitated by Program Directors Jessica Jones and Mu Abeledo, Wesleyan students and WESU DJs, and with the increasing support of other students and WESU staff members. Since its inception, MYRP has been operated on a budget of less than $100 of personal funds for food and materials, and the free-of-charge resources and equipment at WESU. Check out the first two shows on the MYRP MySpace: http://www.myspace.com/middletownyouthradioproject
