Hello! My name is Jennifer and I am a freshman from the University of Washington. At the University of Washington, commonly referred to as "U-Dub", I am a member of the Zeta Tau Alpha sorority. One of the many philanthropic events that the Greek community participates in is the Miss Greek pageant. This year, I am the representative from Zeta Tau Alpha in this event. Presented (and originally created) by the Gamma Mu Chapter of the Delta Tau Delta fraternity, "Miss Greek" at the University of Washington is one of the nation's largest and most successful private philanthropic programs. Since its inception in 1986, "Miss Greek" has raised nearly $1.2 million dollars in support of cancer research at the world-renowned Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center. The Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center was established in 1975 in Seattle, Washington and is known as one of the world’s premier cancer research institutes. It is one of only 39 comprehensive cancer centers nationwide. At the center, researchers pioneered bone-marrow transplants for leukemia and other blood diseases, allowing thousands to be cured and allowed survival rates to rise from zero percent to as much as 85%. As high as that number is, it is still not 100%. However, with the help of donations, we can make that number a reality. That is what I am asking for today. To be eligible for Ms. Greek, each contestant must raise at least $7,000 dollars; my goal is $10,000. I hope that you will be able to help me out with a monetary donation for a great cause. With this money, I can make my goal a reality, and we can cure cancer together
