Global Roots

the problem:

There are a great number of things in this world that one cannot deny: the laws of physics, the human need for food and shelter, the anatomy of the body, and the cycles of birth and death that our bodies perpetuate, are a few examples. We live by and with these things, and we are molded by their impact on our lives. We do not deny them for they are impossible to ignore. The presence of unnecessary and preventable human suffering also belongs on that list, but it is different. It is true that we do not deny it, like the others, but we also choose not to accept it. What would happen if we did?
If we accepted the suffering and despair of the poor, and the helplessness of those forgotten by the world, what would be the outcome? Would we be filled with an overwhelming compassion for our fellow man and leap into action, forgetting our duties, responsibilities and families? Probably not. It is more likely that we would feel a deep pain in our gut, followed by a dull and indistinguishable heaviness, which we would only notice for an instant. We may even suffer a crippling blow to our ego if we are struck by the realization that we in some way support this suffering; not by what we do but what we don’t do, not by subconscious action but by conscious inaction, and then… we would shrug. All of those feelings would simply roll off of our shoulders and fall into the gutters, leaving behind only a vague impression, another bullet on the back of our to-do list.
This is the problem that I, along with the organization I am part of (Global Roots) is trying to solve. We are trying to halt that shrug, to help people hold on to those feelings, that pain, that suffering.

why it's important:

I believe that the responsibility to better the lives of those who suffer does not lie with you or me. I believe that the unspoken fear we are all too nervous to admit is well justified- the task is too big for any one of us; no one can change the world. But I also believe that the task was never set for any one. It is not a person that must carry the burden, but the people. We must work together; it is our duty and responsibility to help those that suffer. If you look around you will realize that nothing of any importance is ever done, or has ever been achieved by one man alone. A single voice may lead, one man may direct, but it is the people that listen, that hear the righteousness in that man’s voice, and in their own hearts, that will ultimately make the impact. A single voice can make a difference, a single act can have the power to change the lives of hundreds of people, but the voice of change is not a single voice, but the combination of many. We mustn’t be afraid, for the burden is not on your or my shoulders but on the worlds, and it is the world’s duty to lift it!

the plan of action:

As I go on my journey, and am confronted with the suffering that in a small town I was sheltered from for so long, I blog about what I am seeing and feeling so that the people that supported this trip will be able to understand the suffering the world is faced with.
Gloal Roots looks for individuals who are already working to make change, and it supports them, it gives them hope, it allows them to do what they, what we, are meant to do. It is an organization that will change the world, not by forcing its ideas on people, but by helping them to express their own. It was founded on the global roots of love, of caring, of peace and happiness, of our true, unlimited nature.
My plan is to help others see this, to understand this, and then with that understanding determine what the yoke upon their shoulders will be laden with, so that they may also impact the world.

how you can get involved:

You are already helping. By reading my page, by working to help, by caring. If you would like to become a part of this incredible organization you can log on to Globalroots.org and send the director an email. Or you can merely follow my blog, the link is above. You can help by listening, and not letting go of what you find. You can help by realizing that it is your job to help the world lift the burden of suffering and despair that plagues its people.
