Mpow²er-meant, Inc. (Moving Past Ordinary Works to Extraordinary Rewards)- The purpose of Mpow²er-meant, Inc. is to provide sustainable programs and facilities, for at-risk individuals, which will promote education, self-esteem/self-worth and a healthy lifestyle in a nurturing environment. Through our one-on-one and group, tutorial, counseling and household management sessions, we will develop our clients into responsible, self-sufficient adults. We will provide the necessary tools and support for our clients to become gainfully employed, high-achieving, productive citizens. Mpow²er-meant, Inc. is meant to nurture, give hope and ultimately empower, thus the name Mpow²er-meant. The following is a list of programs that are being developed under Mpow²er-meant, Inc.: a) Birthing Miracles – group home for expecting females ages 13 - 18 b) Saving Grace – group/transitional home for parenting females ages 13 - 18 c) Sarah Smile – group home for adolescent girls d) Making Cain Able – group home for adolescent boys e) Busy Bodies – facility providing daily enrichment & strengthening activities for handicapped adolescents There is a very high demand for the above programs within my community and I have begun to answer the call. I believe life-changing takes place through empowerment; that empowerment is the cornerstone of transformation and that transformation is the direct product of the merging of information, education, and implementation. These things will be accomplished by the application of three basic fundamental ‘tenets’---Education, Socialization, Spirituality. First, by showing them the necessary love and making them feel worthy and more importantly providing them a healthy, stable environment in which to learn and grow will help them believe in themselves and in people and/or a society in which they may think have left them alone to “crash & burn” so-to-speak. I’ll make them know that somebody cares. It is absolutely necessary to educate in the arenas of high school drop-out statistics, job skills, socialization, and emotional well being…simply put basic life skills…to keep them from becoming a statistic. If not educated, it is highly likely that the vicious cycle of them becoming a statistic will continue to rise and the cycle will repeat itself. I am determined to provide a solution that helps to change the status quo for these young people. Some of the services to be rendered include tutoring, G.E.D. Study, basic computer training, basic business training, cooking lessons, proper etiquette, communication skills, leadership skills and other services catered to our clientele. The goal is to bring out the best in them---find and promote their gifts and talents. Learning how to be a participating, productive member of society is imperative in affecting the behavior patterns of these young adolescents. Helping them to overcome risk behaviors by providing them with a safe and healthy environment to learn and develop life-changing behavioral skills. The program will be comprised of guidelines that require making and keeping personal commitments with an accountability system to make our residents responsible for their choices and actions. Some of the lifestyle-changing class requirements while a resident include conflict resolution, budgeting, goal setting, and being involved in productive activities for at least 10 hours weekly, which could include volunteering, working part-time, or doing some good deed. The goal in doing this is to foster an atmosphere that encourages each of these adolescents to become a functional, productive, independent part of society, and want them to be able to overcome and conquer past limitations and destructive habit patterns and take positive steps toward securing their future. The belief is that success is a very attainable reality and my mission is to take the reality of success to the next generations. To train them to not only understand but also believe that they are capable of attaining their goals and dreams. Success is within reach and with help developing a strategic life plan and attention to detail, I believe that despite their current situation, these young adolescents can be successful, given the right motivation and support. When information, education and implementation come together, transformation takes place. To that avail, this program will enhance the socialization skills of our residents. Lastly, addressing the spiritual aspect is not only important but necessary. Trying to educate or socialize without offering attention to the emotional and spiritual stability of a person just feeds into the cycle and causes it to continue. Educating and socializing a person who questions their self-worth or does not fell like they are a valued part of society, will leave the community with an individual who will most likely repeat negative behavior. It is my belief that in order for an individual to be complete; their mind, body, and spirit must be nurtured. They must have healthy emotional outlets and safe environments that feed the spirit and cultivate the soul. Here’s where you come in. Your grant will afford Mpow²er-meant, Inc. the ability to get its website developed. This will allow anyone in need of our services to be able to search and find us, that might not know of our existence. That’s how I found you! Being able to share our successes online, would definitely attract more contribution opportunities which will help us grow and assist in providing our programs. Since this is a technology-driven world, it is almost imperative that we have a website as it adds another level of credibility.
