The Problem
I am helping my own community which is Beaverton, OR; a suburb or Portland. My community is mainly middle class, with some upper class and some low income families. The problem I am trying to solve is peer pressure to change when kids enter high school. I am a senior in high school and I have seen so many of my peers change for the worse over the last four years. These are kids who I have known since middle school and some since elementary school. It saddened me to see them fold under peer pressure from upperclassmen, and I also felt the pressure to conform. I want my legacy to be a lasting reminder to kids at my highschool that they don't have to do fold to peer pressure to be accepted.
Plan of Action
Steps
1. Find public domain songs (possible hymns) to create my own arrangement of
2. Practice songs, and figure out good arrangements
3. E-mail the pastor at my church, asking if we can record these songs using the church's recording equipment (it is top of the line)
4. Record the songs
5. Sell the CD's
6. Use all profits to help send kids to Washington Family Ranch for a week of incredible summer camp where they will build deep relationships and have the best week of their lives! These deep relationships are based on true friendship, and not shallow relationships based on increasing social status. With deep relationships, they will feel less pressure to conform under peer pressure.
