Music Marathon to fund private music lessons for young students
Check out our videos!
the problem:
In an era where school budgets become tighter every year, it is incredibly important to give young people opportunities to participate in musical expression. Arts education give students a unique chance to be part of a team, no matter what their athletic abilities, and create a finished product in which they take great pride. It creates a conduit between business leaders and citizens in the community, to support our youth in a real way.

34why it's important:
Brad Schoener was a music teacher who inspired hundreds of students each year to learn musical instruments, no matter how discouraged they may be in other facets of their life. Brad learned that he had a rare and aggressive form of cancer, and taught while receiving treatments. He never let his personal struggles affect his teaching abilities, and his spirit pushed students every day to give 500%. In March of 2009, Brad lost his battle with the disease, but not before expressing to all his colleagues the desire to continue his legacy.
the plan of action:
Brad had hoped to accomplish three goals with this fund
1) provide lessons for talented students who may not be able to afford them
2) provide instruments for all elementary students who have the desire to learn
3) establish a summer music camp for elementary students
how you can get involved:
There are numerous ways people can help.
1) You can donate a musical instrument you don't use anymore, so that a young person can use it in their lessons.
2) You can donate money (any amount) or sponsor a student's private lessons for a year in the form of a scholarship ($500). A great way to fund-raise is to throw a concert or recital of your own, and donate the proceeds to us!
3) You can attend our annual Brad Schoener Music Marathon and 5k.
