The Problem

My problem is that ferret owners tend to now know the proper diet, medical, or any kind of other care outside the reading of a single book. They get the ferret and find out it is way to much for them. Soon the ferret gets ether abandoned, put on craigslist for the fastest offer, or just left in the cage. One of my girls was found off 95 at a rest area in 90 degree summer weather. They had abandoned a sweet little girl who did was afraid of other ferrets. Ferret Farm ferrets are sickly creatures that end up with atleast one type of disease. The inbreeding the farms do under unnatural light messes with the natural light the adrenal glands need to function correctly. I started Toodle Tuff Ferret Rescue as a way to provide foster care for ferrents, Ferret/Parent, who need to find their pets home as soon as possible. The surrounding areas around me including Fredericksburg don't have a near enough rescue or foster community to take in these ferrets so many end up in bad homes, along the highway, or dead. Another one of my kids went through 4 homes in two years finally landing in an old friends home where he was fed a rabbit food and left in the cage all day long with open wire floors and built up soiled corners. I heard about him and told her to surrender him to me, or a rescue when she finaly comes to her senses to rehome him. She commented that she "loves him" and didn't want him to go. In Jan of 10, I got the text to come pick him up ASAP. He was done, sick, and very much adrenal, a disease that most ferrets end up with. I picked him up and tried to explain what was wrong with him but they just told me they were tired and I should leave. Dingo went to my place where he met his soul mate and got the medical care he needed. He lost his buddy Jan of this year to insulinoma and now fights for his life through the depression his buddy got him out of in the first place. Right now not only am I working full time, I am going to college too get enough credits to sign-up for a vet tech class. If it weren't for scholarships and financial aid, I would have to rely on a loan to help with college. My job provides me with vet bill coverage, gas, food, and a little extra to put up in the savings. I am working as a ranch hand to live at my current residence in exchange for the work. He helps me alot to be able to afford the kids when my jobs get slow.

Plan of Action

My plan of action has already started! My roommate donated a portion of his land before hand, some river rock, soil, old fence wood, and access to his tractor. His son has donated time and effort to help build a blue print and eventualy the enclosure itself. Right now all we are waiting for is for my tax return to get started, and a nice day! I was suprissed this year by some extra money from the tax's and figured I would put a hundred down on starting the project.
