The Problem

The modern community that i live in today has many problems with seeking the acceptance of someone's ethnicity or sexuality. This problem occurs still today more often then before; which now leads to teens being left to believe there by themselves. The Natural Helpers Program was founded by Matt Hawker a Social Studies teacher from the Central Islip High School that witness these problems in today's society with his encounters with his students. This program helps minimize these problems by simple reaching out to the society as mentors of this program and simple showing them they are not alone. Becoming a friend and teaching the youth that we are all equal no matter the difference there may be.

Plan of Action

The steps that i have taken have made many impacts in so many ways. I have been attending many Wednesday meetings with the Natural Helpers. I also attend my first period class which is Council For Unity another program to express feeling and thoughts. My impact on the kids i teach every Thursday is great. I explain to them that i am a Volunteer Firemen for Central Islip and my experience while responding to calls. I also tell them about my down days and feelings towards everything i encountered on those days. They love to dance and me giving them what i never had till i met true friends is a blessing and i will continue to work hard on making an impact in Youth's Society.
