The Problem

This program provides students with skills and opportunities to collaborate with each other through the engaging genres of chamber music and to integrate with the creative expressiveness of drama, visual arts, and dance.

Plan of Action

Nesin Cultural Arts Summer Music Institute is planned for August 18-24 2013 at the Euguene D. Nesin Theater in Monticello, New York. Approximately 40 local public school students grades 3-12 will participate in the premier of a new opera, "Screens." The students will collaborate with the composer, Nancy Wegrzyn, and resident faculty to produce this opera through, music, dance, drama, and the visual arts. I am a piano performance major at SUNY Purchase and will be doing piano lessons and will supervise practice as well as assisting the administrator of the institute. I will also help with student supervision during the activities and helping the faculty with whatever they need. I will also participate in Community Outreach performances during the Institute.
