The Problem

Since May of 2010, the project that has taken most of my time is the New York to New Orleans coalition (NY2NO). NY2NO is a youth led organization that brings high school students from New York City to New Orleans to assist on a variety of activities that aim to counter the effects of environmental racism.

Plan of Action

NY2NO created a chapter, Growing Youth Organizers, in which participants who attended a summer brigade learn how to develop organizing techniques. This year was aimed at working on numerous projects throughout New York City, being involved in outreach in order to diversify our group and developing organizing skills. We meet once-twice a week and are currently planning to go on a one week trip to New Orleans during our February break from school.
