See It

Over the past few years, Nicaragua has experienced a severe economic crisis that has left people of all ages and socio-economic classes in situations of severe need. However, with Hillel’s alternative spring, my peers and I will have the chance to work for Nicaragua’s youth, peasant population, and the broader Nicaraguan community in volunteer service projects. Specifically, we will be connecting to the Nicaraguan community and developing and promoting projects that will improve the living and working conditions, reduce poverty, hunger and unemployment for the Nicaraguan community in conjunction with a local non-profit group called the American Jewish World Services as well as a local non-governmental organization called Fundación Denis Gonzalez. I am writing to you today to appeal for a donation to support our project. Due to the high costs associated with such an intense overseas program, our trip this spring will cost an estimated $23,000 for the 14 students and 1 staff supporting us. We have already managed to raise some of these funds but would greatly appreciate any financial help you could provide to help us reach our goal. Your donation will provide us with an invaluable opportunity to experience the richness and variety of Nicaraguan life, to learn about and connect with people from another country, and to be able to make a difference in peoples lives who need our help. Thank you for your time and consideration.
