the problem:
We are trying to inspire safe driving amongst teenagers by encouraging teens to not text while driving.

30why it's important:
I have known people who have gotten hurt in a driving accident because of texting while driving. Additionally, I have been close to getting in an accident when I was with a friend who chose to check a text while he was driving.
the plan of action:
We started having meetings in February with GEICO and they asked us what would teens like to see happen. We asked them if they would partner with us in our club and they said YES! So they gave us a choice about what to give away. So we have distributed phone holders to put on the dashboard of cars to prevent teens from answering their cell phone while driving 2) Teen driving DVD 3) Info on distracted driving and key chains 4) Drunk driving cart was provided by the Sheriff dept to address underage drinking at our Big Shot event. 5) WE filmed our own film about it called "It happened so Fast" We had technical problems we are working on so we can debut it"

August 2010 begins phase 2 so this project. We are meeting with our school to confirm showing this video in the drivers education classes for the fall. Additionally, we will give out teen safe driving info from one of our business supporters, GEICO, and a cell phone holder for the car. We hope to share the video to be used in other teen gatherings, meetings, wherever we can get the word out.
