The Problem
Here at Capital Preparatory Magnet School, we strive to make an impact within our community. Our gardening club strives to educate middle schoolers on the effects of genetically modified foods that now account for 80% of the foods in supermarkets. We education kids on proper nutrition for disadvantaged members of our community, and being informed shoppers.
Plan of Action
Over the course of the year, I will continue to hold a club at my school for one hour each day. I have spent a great deal of energy in teaching middle school-aged children about the dangerous of genetically modified foods, and the health hazards they can pose on themselves. Now, we have begun to create a garden on the school grounds, in which we hope to motivate others in our school about these issues. Our biggest goal is to raise enough money to buy a greenhouse for the spring.
